Our Mission
Closing the Gaps provides innovative and scientifically valid brain fitness software programs and proven instructional techniques that maximize each client's potential. This translates into increased mental (cognitive) and physical performance and results in academic, career and athletic success. We achieve this mission by assessing your unique strengths and challenges and we customize your state-of-the-art therapeutic, educational programs. We are changing lives one brain at a time.

Who we are

  1. Edna P. Caceres
    Edna P. Caceres
    M.Ed - Program Director
    A dynamic educator who has been empowering and educating minds for the last fifteen years. She has work in both the public school and private settings. Edna has a Master's degree in Special Education, she has helped students who often find it difficult to learn to excel in academics. She has experience in early intervention and educational evaluations for Florida Department of Education and the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind; She has also served as tutor-mentor for U.F. Athletic Association. Over the years she has input knowledge on children, opening the world to new experiences. Her individualized approach, no matter how difficult the concept is, has made each child’s learning experience a unique way of learning. The “a ha” moment when things come together makes her teaching priceless.
  2. Arthur Larralde
    Arthur Larralde
    Ed.S.,M.Ed. - Secondary Program Director
    Over Seventeen years teaching experience in Florida; Education Specialist Degree in instructional design and Master's degree in secondary education. Associate Professor at Santa Fe Community College High School Dual Enrollment Program. Served five years as mentor-tutor for S.F.C.C. Upward Bound Program and College Reach-Out Program. Specialty areas of tutoring include, SSAT/ISEE, SAT/ACT, Middle and High School math courses. His ability to make connections and high success rates for students entering Post-Secondary and Universities has made him a sought out tutor in our company.
  3. Kristy Rios
    Kristy Rios
    Assistant Director
    Ms. Rios has been part of our growing team since 2009. With her B.S in Psychology from UCF in 2014, she is currently working on her Masters in Developmental Disabilities with a concentration in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to be BCBA at NSU. She is also a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in Florida. Her main area of focus is Behavior Management for children in all age groups who have difficulties at home, school or in the community. She is also one of our Elementary tutors and Accelerated Learning Systems coach. As a Behavioral Therapist, her high level of tolerance and understanding helps children increase their levels of independence, natural social interactions and have a better quality of life.
  4. Melody Vera
    Melody Vera
    With a Bachelor of Arts in History from University of Florida (2000) and Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida International University (2003), Melody is one of our top tutors. With over 6 years of teaching experience, specialty areas of tutoring include Elementary reading, math, homework help and Test Prep-SAT Verbal, ACT Verbal, and SSAT/ISEE. Her dedication, persistence, organization skills and caring personality, shows students that school can be fun and that knowledge is empowering.
  5. Roxxane del Rio-Martinez
    Roxxane del Rio-Martinez
    Tutor
    Roxxane has acquired a BS in Chemistry Education 6-12TH Grade. She has been teaching/tutoring over 7 years. Specialty areas include Science and Math (Upper Elementary to Algebra 1) and Reading comprehension from Elementary to High School. Roxxane is caring, motivated and determined to show progress and understanding to her students, making a difference in their lives.
  6. Michael Carey
    Michael Carey

    Mr. Carey has over 18 years or tutoring experience. Receiving a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from UF in 2002 and currently working on his Masters in Mathematics at FIU, he is one of our sought out tutors. Specialty areas of tutoring include Elementary and Middle School math, algebra, history, physics, chemistry, astronomy, biology, advance math, Test Prep -SAT/ACT, SSAT/ISEE and college level courses. Overall, Mr. Carey’s patience and systematical teaching methods has helped many of our past student maximize their scores.
  7. Ariadna Orue
    Ariadna Orue
    Tutor
    Ariadna is an amazing instructor who works for Miami Dade County School. Ariadna graduate with her Masters in Special Education from Florida International University. She has experience working with students who have learning difficulties. She is certified to work with students in grades K-2nd. She works with students in small groups and private sessions. She is fluent and literate in Spanish and English. Ari’s patience, determination and funny attitude makes reading and writing fun and easy to understand. There is no better feeling than rewarding a child with potential knowledge that can be life changing.
